Shrine of Remembrance, National War Memorial of Victoria

On cover of original folder "Melbourne Shrine Figures" (original folder discarded). This file includes incoming and outgoing correspondence regarding the commissioning of eight symbolical figures to be placed in the Inner Sanctuary of the Shrine of Remembrance (the National War Memorial of the State of Victoria). Daphne Mayo was selected by the Citizens' Committee of the National War Memorial of Victoria to submit a model for the figure of 'Integrity'. Due to insufficient funds the committe was unable to proceed with the commissioning of the Figures. The file also has a copy (no. 11) of the National War Memorial Specification. Respecting eight marble figures for inner shrine for the "Shine of Remembrance" at The Domain, South Yarra for The Committee of the National War Memorial. This copy has bound with it The first brochure on the first premiated design The National War Memorial of Victoria (1924); two folded plans for the 'Detail section of inner shrine of remembrance' and 'Plan at Shrine Floor Level'; and the Offical guide to the Shrine of Remembrance : The Domain Melbourne (signed by Daphne).
