Biographical history

Elizabeth Mary Saxelby was born in Belper, Derbyshire, England in 1870. She died on 18 May 1959 in Brisbane. She wrote articles on birds, nature and children in the newspaper (mostly the Brisbane Courier) in the 1920s under the name "Marmee" and occasionally used this name when writing to her daughter, Daphne.
