Torres Strait Islander names are spelled in a variety of ways in English, changing with time: this photocopied manuscript has 'Esili'. Peter Eseli wrote his notebook in Kala Lagaw Ya. First page of photocopy has brief notes about provenance from donor, Margaret Lawrie.

Photocopy of a notebook kept by Gaulai of Mabuiag in the Torres Strait Islands ; mainly comprises sermons and hymns. These were probably used by Gaulai when he was a lay preacher at Yam Island, Central Torres Strait, in the early 1900s. Includes handwritten genealogical information about Gaulai and his descendants, and five photographs.
