Thirty-two black and white photographs, on a CD-ROM, of a demonstration on 10 May 1985 against the awarding of an honorary doctorate of Laws to Queensland Premier Johannes Bjelke-Petersen. Up to 5000 UQ students, UQ staff, trade unionists and other outraged citizens attended the protest outside Mayne Hall, St Lucia, where the award ceremony was to take place. Although the ceremony proceeded, the Premier did not attend.

Files containing copies of press clippings, minutes of meetings, articles and reports, media releases, submissions, ministerial statements, newsletters, correspondence and ephemera. Compiled by Greg Weir during twenty years of political activism, the collection records the public debate on gay and lesbian issues, homosexual law reform, introduction of anti-discrimination legislation, the growth of gay awareness, AIDS, the links between gay issues and political change. Also vol. 7 contains a small amount of material about the peace movement and the Australian Labor Party. Weir's comprehensive indexes to the files are bound in a separate volume.

Accompanied by 184 35mm slides, depicting posters collected by Weir over approximately 25 years, which relate to rallies, events and other activities related to his interests. Also folder containing 3.5inch floppy discs with WordPerfect files of indexes.

Transcript of hearing relating to bashing of student during demonstation in Brisbane, 1977 (Folders 1 & 2) ;photographs of Right to March demonstrations, Brisbane, 1978 (Folder 3) ;papers relating to a political controversy about Sir Garfield Barwick's shares in Mundroola Pty. Ltd. (Folder 4). Material in Folder 4 originates from period 1978-1981 when Mark Plunkett was assistant private secretary to Bill Hayden (then Leader of the Opposition). Plunkett was asked to investigate the activities of Mundroola Pty. Ltd., the Barwick family company, of which Sir Garfield Barwick was a director, for possible conflicts of interest. Gareth Evans started action to impeach Barwick.

This file includes: a letter signed by Harold Throssell, Elizabeth Timms, and Laurie Hayes of the Select Committee on Deserted Wives to the President and Members of the Executive Committee of the Council of Social Services of Queensland, 12 Apr 1967; a carbon copy typescript of the Select Committee on Deserted Wives report with handwritten emendations, April 1967; ‘Deserted wives in Queensland’, 1967’; two poems by Clare Dunne; double-sided leaflet 'A Call for action at the University of Queensland' (regarding the state of emergency declared by the Queensland Government related to the Springbok tour in 1971 with the names of university staff (over 200 staff supported militant action), ending with it will be issued to the workers' rally at 9.30am and at 1pm the students and staff will march from St. Lucia), 1971; copy of a conference proceedings from "Seminar on Family Social Services', 1967?; pamphlet 'Strategy for left action' by Dan O'Neill, 1969; report by Edna Chamberlain, Roisin Hirschfeld and Jill Brown 'Some problems associated with research among urban Aboriginals', July 1973; List by publications by H.
