Vida Lahey : artist

Original typescript manuscript of biography of Vida Lahey. The cover has a b&w photograph of Vida Lahey painting with the caption 'Vida Lahey M.B.E.'. This article written for a literary competition of the Society of Women Writers of N.S.W. in 1969. Daphne Mayo wrote it under the pyseudoynm 'Lilian MacArthur' (a combinaton of her first name and the second name of her father, William MacArthur Mayo). It gives an account of Vida Lahey's family history, her artist development, her art, her involvement in encouraging art in Queensland and art for children.

It records income received and expenses ('paid out') from property, profession and dividends from 6 Aug 1963 to 30 Jun 1965. Includes details for rental on five flats.

Study for Major General Sir William Glasgow Memorial

Scale model, or maquette, of Major General Sir William Glasgow in plaster. Glasgow is in the uniform of an officer of the Light Horse holding a pair of field glasses. The finished bronze statue is about 2.5 metres high. Sir William Glasgow Memorial was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 13 May 2004

Ledger book (cover missing) with 1960 to 1963 on initial page and a list of names and address. From second page it records income received and expenses ('paid out') from property, profession and dividends from 25 Oct 1961 to 7 Jun 1963. At the back of book are 'Costs in connection with house at 74 Victoria Street' from 16 Aug 1960 to Sep 1961. Pasted in towards the end are dividends from April to Sep 1965.

Life sized portrait bust of Vida Lahey in plaster, painted brown. Lahey is wearing a tied scarf. Not signed or dated. Vida Lahey visited Mayo at her Sydney Studio in George Street in late 1957 when sittings were made.

Ledger for rental property from Sep 1952 to Feb 1959

Exercie book (cover missing) with first three pages listing names and addresses. Daphne Mayo's addresses: 4 Montana Flats, 8 Wulworra Avenue, Cremorne Point. Exercise book used as a ledger to record transactions for the rental property consisting of 3 flats, studio and a cottage, associated expenses, money banked, weekly rent. Transactions are from 1 Sep 1952 to 21 Apr 1956. Handwritten note on third page with dates of her parent's deaths. Note on page recording Arpil 1956 transactions says: "1956 Friday 27th April flats were transferred to Wottons & £7000 was paid to me". Records are less comprehensive from this date. The last dated entry was 21 Feb 1959.
