Harold Trevor Clifford, commonly known as Trevor Clifford, was a botanist and taxonomist born on 18 April 1927. He taught botany at the University of Queensland for 34 years and was made Emeritus Professor when he retired in 1992. He went on to become a Research Associate attached to the Geology section of the Queensland Museum. He died on 4 May 2019.

Doris Pilkington's Aboriginal name is Nugi Garimara. She was born in 1937; her birth was unregistered but the Western Australian Department of Native Affairs later issued her date of birth as 1 July 1937. She was born "on traditional birthing round under a wintamarra tree" on Balfour Downs Station in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. As a toddler she was removed by authorities and, with her sister and mother sent, to Moore River Native Settlement. Doris left the mission system as a qualified nursing aide. She married a man named Pilkington, and raised a family. She went on to study journalism and worked in film and television production. In 2002, she was appointed Co-Patron of State and Federal Sorry Day Committee's Journal of Healing; in 2004, she was named a Western Australian State Living Treasure; in 2008 she was the recipient of the Red Ochre Award of outstanding lifelong contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts.
