Biographical history

Feilding Chippendale was an agricultural science student at the University of Queensland from 1935 to1938. After his graduation, he was employed by Colin Clark, then Director of the Bureau of Industry, to undertake a massive tree-planting project at the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus. His work as a horticulturalist was interrupted by the Second World War. He joined the army, gaining his Master of Agricultural Science degree while serving as the head of a malaria control unit in Papua New Guinea and Borneo.
