History

The Twelfth Night Theatre Company was founded in Brisbane in 1936 by Rhoda Felgate. It was an amateur society at first, then became a professional company in 1971. In 1979, the TN! Theatre Company was established It was separate from the Twelfth Night Theatre Complex and had a more adventurous artistic policy. It formed a partnership with the Brisbane College of Education, which gave it access to a performance space in Fortitude Valley. In 1986, the company moved to the Princess Theatre. After 1988, financial difficulties beset the company Its last production was in 1991.

The TN! Theatre company was originally known as The Twelfth Night Theatre Company. In 1976 the company sold their building in Bowen Hills and continued to perform at the venue, but to avoid confusion, the company changed its name to TN!
