History
Margaret Grace Kemp-Pennefather was born on 3 June 1927 to Constance Mabel (nee Keys) and Lionel Hugh Kemp-Pennefather. She grew up in Toowong, trained as a nurse, married Arthur Thorsborne in 1963. Margaret and Arthur Thorsborne were inspired by Kathleen McArthur and David Fleay and became active members of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland. Initially living in the Gold Coast area, in 1972 they moved to Cardwell, in North Queensland, to be close to Hinchinbrook Island. She died on 16 October 2018.
