Non-fiction works

This series includes typescript drafts, proofs and correspondence for non-fiction works, articles, speeches and interview transcripts.

Correspondence

The series includes professional correspondence with publishers, literary agents, film companies and cultural and literary organisations and other writers. There are also personal letters and letters from readers. Much of the correspondence relating to Carey's individual literary works can be found with those manuscripts, preserving Carey's own arrangement of the material.

Reviews, cuttings and photocopies

As well as the reviews in this series, a substantial number of reviews can be found in the form of enclosures with correspondence or included in publicity folders filed with the individual literary manuscripts. This series also has newspaper and magazine cuttings collected by Peter Carey.

Notebooks

Carey maintained handwritten notebooks of ideas for his writings. Contained in this series are eleven of these notebooks. Some notebooks have general notes such as shopping lists, recipes, names and addresses, and lists that pertain to his personal life.

Screenplays and scripts.

The series includes manuscript and typescript drafts, notes, research material, and some related correspondence Carey's screenplays, of which Bliss and Until the end of the world were produced.

Short stories

This series comprises manuscripts and drafts of unpublished and published short stories and short story collections. It also includes Carey's biographical story about the birth of his son Sam called A letter to our son

Novels

The series includes manuscript and typescript drafts, notes, research material, publicity material, and related correspondence for Carey's published and unpublished novels.

Personal papers

Personal correspondence, notebooks, curriculum vitae and references. Includes a list of titles and photocopies of inscriptions on the copies of books belong to Fitzgibbon that were returned to the family.

Lectures, seminars, workshops on editing

Throughout her career Rosanne Fitzgibbon attended and presented lectures, seminars and workshops on editing and publishing. She presented for the Queensland Writers' Centre, Australian Book Publishers Association, various Writers Festivals, Institute of Professional Editors, Literature Board of the Australian Council and guest presentations for courses at University of Queensland.
