Leyshon house at West Chermside

Kevin and Betty Leyshon's house was designed by Dan Kelvey and was situated at 29 Rossett Street, West Chermside, Brisbane. Kelvey designed a home to fit the climate of Brisbane, built of materials that were readily available, wide overhangs or eaves, downpiping set into the building without being conspicuous, fairly flat roof without many angles and no tiles , concrete floor construction, interiors with natural materials. The file has correspondence, financial details and specifications relating to the land and house. Included is a two page note by Kev Leyshon about Dan Kelvey. There are three architectural drawings. There is an undated drawing of Residence for K. Leshion [sic] Esq at Rosset [sic] St. Chermside by D.W. Kelvey with elevations, sections, foundation plan, floor plan and kitchen details. There is a copy of this drawing with pencil notes. The third drawing is dated Mar 1965 for Proposed car-port extension for Mr. K. Leyshon at Rossett Street Chermside with Brisbane City Council specification attached and architect name not specified.

Leyshon house at Burpengary

The series contains documents and architectural drawings relating to Kevin and Betty Leyshon's house at Hunt Street, Burpengary designed by Noel Robinson (as part of 'Noel Robinson + ptnrs' and later as 'Noël Robinson Built Environments Pty Ltd). There is a file with correspondence, financial information, contracts, design notes, and photocopies of plans. Of the seven architectural drawings, three plans for are for the original build of the house at Hunt Street: Job no. 1105 'Leyshon House Burpengary : section details', drawing no. 2, Aug 1974; and 2 copies of Job no. 1105 'House Burpengary : Dormitory details', drawing no. 5, Mar 1975. Four of the seven architectural drawings are for extensions, designed by Noel Robinson Built Environments, for K.R. & B.A. Leyshon, 'House extensions', no job or drawing numbers, dated Dec 1984 to Jun 1985.

There are two photocopies of plans for the Leyshon House by James Architects, no dates, which appears to be interior design improvements for the house. Unsure if this work was done. There is no related correspondence.
