Working drawings for Union College Stage 2

The construction of Stage II commenced in May 1965 and was presumably completed before the start of first term in 1966. There are 11 drawings in this file.

There are nine working drawings that form a set, all drawings are ink line drawings on tracing paper and all but one have the date of March 1966 and are drawn by B. Goodsir. These nine drawings are:

The Agriculture and Entomology Building was built in three stages. Contractors often designed their plans in consultation with James Birrell & Parnters and both names may appear on their plans. The most significant contractor in this file is P.R. Scott & Associates: all drawings by P.R. Scott & Associates are ink line drawing on paper; date from 1966 to 1969; only five drawings have the previous numbering system (A16.113-117); Items 1-28, consisting of a total of 57 plans (31 are in two volumes) for P.R. Scott & Associates.

Drawings are for stage one; stage two is marked as a future extension. They comprise: site plan; lower ground floor; diagrammatic layout, underfloor service ducts; ground floor; Senate house, ground floor; first floor; second floor; third floor; fourth floor; fifth floor; south elevation; east elevation; north elevation; cross section; typical detail of double hung windows; preliminary sketches showing proposed method of precasting; and sun control, data and analysis. The plans for the different floor levels describe some of the future occupant positions for selected rooms.

One volume of 51 plans for the Job A37 J.D. Story Administration Building The University of Queensland. Previously held together with three metal holders Drawings are numbered 3 to 41A. Some drawings have a second version. Drawings 1, 2, 10, 21 and 41 are missing. On the cover there are titles for 40 drawings, however there is a drawing number 41A that appears to belong to this volume. Drawings date from Mar to Jun1964. From cover page: University Architect, J. P. Birrell; Assistant Architect L. Kulley. Consultants: Antony Tod, Structural Engineer; P. R.
