Queensland Women's War Memorial is situated in Anzac Square, Ann Street, Brisbane, Queensland. The Brisbane Women's Club launched a campaign in 1929 to raise the funds to create a memorial as a tribute to those who fought in World War One. Due to the depression the campaign was unable to reach the goal of 1000 pounds. Mayo worked on the carved stone panel and drinking bubbler from 1929 to 1932. It was unveiled on 24 March 1932.
This file contains two folders. One folder contains notes and letters regarding the Queensland Women's War Memorial. It includes: a letter of acceptance of her design from the Queensland Women's Memorial Committee (17 May 1930); letters and estimates by the city architect for the fountain; letters from Nora B. Harris, President of Brisbane Women's Club and member of the the Queensland Women's Memorial Committee including one referencing Mayos illness and trip to Hobart (16 Mar 1931); letter from Mayo to Mrs Harris on the progress of the work, delays and payments (9 Nov 1981); a post card of the Memorial ; a handwritten note outlining Mayos design proposal for the Memorial (undated); and the poem with the section to be carved highlighted for Mayos consideration.

The second folder has a blueprint, plan and notes for the drinking fountain.

Story; The Art Bronze Foundry (London): and the Winton Shire Council regarding the inscription of the Waltzing Matilda Monument.

On the back of one letter (21 Jul 1964), addressed to Vida Lahey, there are notes "My complaints" regarding one of her works (possibly the Glasgow statue).

Cameron (Member for Griffith) with copies of letters from the Attorney-General, Canberra, regarding copyright of sculptures in public places; Macquarie Galleries; Fryer Memorial Library of Australian Literature regarding acquiring a donation of a sculputure by Mayo; and Judith McKay.

Correspondents include: Lord Mayor's Office (invitiation to morning tea in her honour); Sculptors' Society of Australia (acceptance of her as a member); David Jones Art Gallery (copy of a letter to G. F. Lewers); C.F. Bennett; Queensland National Art Gallery (acknowledging her application for position of Director at the Gallery); J.C. Selwyn King; William Bustard; Wilson & Co. ; and Grosvenor Galleries.

On cover of original folder "Melbourne Shrine Figures" (original folder discarded). This file includes incoming and outgoing correspondence regarding the commissioning of eight symbolical figures to be placed in the Inner Sanctuary of the Shrine of Remembrance (the National War Memorial of the State of Victoria). Daphne Mayo was selected by the Citizens' Committee of the National War Memorial of Victoria to submit a model for the figure of 'Integrity'. Due to insufficient funds the committe was unable to proceed with the commissioning of the Figures. The file also has a copy (no. 11) of the National War Memorial Specification. Respecting eight marble figures for inner shrine for the "Shine of Remembrance" at The Domain, South Yarra for The Committee of the National War Memorial. This copy has bound with it The first brochure on the first premiated design The National War Memorial of Victoria (1924); two folded plans for the 'Detail section of inner shrine of remembrance' and 'Plan at Shrine Floor Level'; and the Offical guide to the Shrine of Remembrance : The Domain Melbourne (signed by Daphne).

This file contains correspondence regarding the bronze scuplture by Mayo commemorating former students of King's School who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two. Includes notes; drawings; reproduction prints; eight b&w photographs (5 are bromide photographs) of the College chapel and school; and publications by the King's School (the magazine from 1948, Dedication of a Memorial 1953, a brochure of the School).
