Student Drawings.

The majority of this series comprises drawings and essays produced by Douglas McKay for assessment purposes during his architecture degree at The University of Queensland. While some of McKay's student drawings are conventional architectural plans, others are mixed media works which feature photographs and/or newspaper cuttings. The series also contains drawings created by McKay for commercial firms while he was a student, and drawings created for a competition.

Kelvey designed a home to fit the climate of Brisbane, built of materials that were readily available, wide overhangs or eaves, downpiping set into the building without being conspicuous, fairly flat roof without many angles and no tiles, concrete floor construction, interiors with natural materials. The file has correspondence, financial details and specifications relating to the land and house. Included is a two page note by Kev Leyshon about Dan Kelvey. There are three architectural drawings. There is an undated drawing of Residence for K. Leshion [sic] Esq at Rosset [sic] St. Chermside by D.W. Kelvey with elevations, sections, foundation plan, floor plan and kitchen details. There is a copy of this drawing with pencil notes. The third drawing is dated Mar 1965 for Proposed car-port extension for Mr. K.
