Riverland Residence, Maryland Avenue, Carrara, Gold Coast

This file comprises two sets of plans for the residence at [2] Mayland Avenue, Carrara, Gold Coast. The residence was originally for clients Mr. and Mrs K Breen. Project no. 8111.89. The architects, from the title block were the Davis Heather Group. The brief: Design, documents for construction; formal facade to the street, informal to the river, classical interior. All internal rooms are accessed from a semicircular atrium / courtyard, which opens to the rear garden, tennis court and jetty through large sliding doors. There are 28 working drawings, four preliminary sketch plans and five design development drawings. All are dated 1981.

Michael Edgley bought the house from the Breens and there are three sketches for an extension to the house, dated 1985. The house was sold to an art union and bought by a reired developer.

Won a design award 1986.

Nine pencil or ink line drawings on tracing paper. From the Title Block: The Heather Thiedeke Group, architects and planners. Client: Catholic Parish, Surfers Paradise. Brief: Master plan, design and documentation. The environmentally sensitive school master plan (not common on the Gold Coast at the time) received a civic design and architectural awards for the sustainable qualities. Almost every tree on the site was preserved. Includes: schematic designs and working drawings for Stage 4 and Stage 5; 1982 to 1985.

Three ink line drawings on tracing paper. No Title Block, undated. Brief: Master plan for destination resort plus hotel, units, Tavern design. The tavern was to replace a demolished historic building and reinstate the original architectural form.

Two ink line and coloured pen drawings on paper dated, 10 Aug 1992; and 4 ink line drawings on tracing paper. No Title Block. Client: Residence for Mr. F. Remmele, Lot 8 Little Nerang Road Mudgeeraba, a South Australian 'Black Friday' bushfire survivor. Brief: Design for a single person. To be constructed as fireproof as possible. Thiedeke's research indicated an all Hebel structure would suit the client's brief. Hebel is precast aerated concrete produced in panels and blocks.

Collection of short stories about Mexico based on true events between 1968 and 1975. Number 9 of the second series Thiedeke wrote between 1990 and 2018. This book was written in 2006.

Canadian National Pavilion for World's Fair, Osaka, Japan

Eleven architectural drawings (ink line drawings on paper) stapled together as one volume. Title Block: Erickson Massey Architects. Client: Canadian Government. Brief: To present Canada to the world at Expo '70 [Expo (International Exhibitions Bureau) (1970 : Osaka, Japan)]. Thiedeke worked with Arthur Erickson, one of Canada's most prestigious architects, in the concept design phase of the project. Thiedeke described himself as the pencil to Erickson's mind and hand. Job no. 6703. 9 drawings have title block. Dated Mar to May 1968. All plans stapled together (staples removed).

Presentation volume set of four plans for King Neptune Restaurant, located on 2247 Granville Street, Vancouver. Drawn by GH and GJT for Erickson Massey Architects. Stapled together (staples removed). Client: Restauranteur. Brief: Concept design for a seafood restaurant; the essence being to capture of the character of timber wharf structures on the Fraser River; the ships, trains and piles of logs.
