Letters from Marjorie McCosker.

Letters from Marjorie McCosker, mostly to Francie. Folder also contains a travel coupon for Mrs S. McCosker for travel from Brisbane to Rabaul, date 17 July 1950.

Licences and certificates.

A licence to drive a motor vehicle, issued by the Territory of Papua New Guinea to Stanley McCosker; a certificate issued by the Federal Institute of Accountants to Marjorie Martin certifying her as a Provisional Associate of the Institute; a sheet bearing the imprints of two ink stamps: the stamp of the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft Abteiling Bismarck Archipel, and the stamp of the New Guinea Compagnie. The original ink stamps used can be found in Series E, File 1.

Court papers.

Correspondence, a statement of claim and associated documents and a copy of a judgement in the Supreme Court of the Territory of Papua New Guinea in the case of Stanley McCosker and Henry Walford King (plaintiffs) and Gustav Thomas Kuster (defendant). The Court ruled in favour of the plaintiffs and an application by the defendant Kuster for leave to appeal to the High Court of Australia was refused.

New Guinea photographs, 1936 to 1954.

Photographic prints of people, plantation life and scenery in the Australian Territory of New Guinea. Locations include Matala Plantation, Kolopo and Rugenhafen. Some of the photographs feature members of the McCosker family and their associates. The album also contains a sequence of photographic negatives attributed to Walford King which show Chinese and Japanese fishing boats and cargo ships.

New Guinea photographs, 1947 to 1954.

Photographic prints and postcards showing people, plantation life and scenery in the Australian Territory of New Guinea. Locations include Matala Plantation and Rabaul. Many of the photographs feature local people.

Gold mine diary.

Handwritten diary with daily entries relating to activity at Stan McCosker's gold mine, 50 miles (80km) south of Rabaul. Sections towards the back of the journal contain lists of labourers and what appear to be accounts of payments made to them. There are also lists of tools and supplies. The journal encloses an unattached letter from 'Pop' to 'Bin', dated 31 December 1955 and 3 January 1956.

Research papers 10.

Newspaper cuttings of articles about the German plantation owner and trader Heinrich Rudolph Wahlen and the house he built on Maron Island in the Hermit Group of islands of New Guinea. The file includes a photographic print of the house.

Real property maps and land ownership orders.

Final order dated 22 June 1953, re-establishing ownership of the Matala plantation to Herbert Walford King and Stanley McCosker under the New Guinea Land Titles Restoration Ordinance 1951-1952; and a map of the islands of the Hermit Group, supplied to H. Walford King in September 1956.
