System of arrangement

The collection is arranged into five series based on the format and function of the material: literary manuscripts, correspondence, research papers relating to the history of Australian New Guinea, photographs and realia. The correspondence has been further divided into Anne McCosker's personal correspondence, correspondence used as source material for her history of Australians in New Guinea and the World War One correspondence of her uncle Frederick Martin. The research papers have been kept in their original order where possible, with subseries for the discrete collection of Stan McCosker's papers, for papers relating to the War Damage Commission and for other research papers, which are arranged loosely by topic and according to the chronological structure of the book Masked Eden.
