History

William Hodgen (junior) was born in Toowoomba on 28 June 1866. His father, William Hodgen was a buildder and contractor in Toowoomba. After work as a cadet in the Colonial Architect's Office, he resigned in 1891 to travel to London where he obtained employment with William Flockhart. He returned to Queensland and began practice as an architect in Toowoomba in 1897. He undertook work throughout southern and western Queensland. He practised with his sons Neil Nelson Hodgen and Owen Frederick Hodgen from 1935. He died in Toowoomba on 29 July 1943.
