History

Eunice Catherine Gilmour was born on 11 November 1921 to James Stephen Gilmour and Elizabeth Stuart Fryer. She was the eldest child and had a sister, Lex, and a brother, John. The family lived on Mount Kelman Station. She was the eldest cousin in the Fryer family and spent time caring for her younger cousins, including the children of Richard Alexander James Fryer and Walter Ponsonby Fryer. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts as an external student at the University of Queensland in 1948. She worked as a teacher and a librarian at the State Library of Queensland, Brisbane, before returning to Springsure to support her elderly parents. She died on 1 January 2022.
