Biographical history

Jean Bird first published poetry in 1920. She completed a BA at The University of Queensland in 1959. She won the Douglas Price Memorial Prize in Philosophy and the Ford Memorial Medal for Poetry. She worked at The University of Queensland as a secretary from 1939-1960, after which she worked as a high school teacher at Somerville House and Pymble Ladies' College.
