Written when Blick was 84, his memoir is broken into four sections. The first volume details his family history, childhood, time in Singapore and New Zealand, and schooling in England. Volume 2 includes his work history, architectural education, meeting his wife (Helen Russell), the birth of their children, World War Two, post war jobs in England and his thoughts on leaving England for Australia. The third volume includes his life in Brisbane, building his steel framed house, his job with the Queensland Works Department in the Construction Branch, his travels throughout Queensland for his job, working for the government on office and furniture accommodation, what he did on his long service leave and his involvement with the Christian Youth Camp. Volume four covers his retirement years.
