History
Brisbane-based architect. Worked under the tutelage of Eric Ford of Chambers and Ford while studying at Brisbane Central Technical College. In 1932 entered private practice, and in 1934 formed the successful partnership Blackburne and Gzell with BCTC classmate Vitaly Gzell. Both men served in World War II and after returning from service the practice resumed, until dissolution in 1953. Blackburne continued to practice in Brisbane and later the Sunshine Coast.
