Pauline Hanson is an Australian politician and leader of the political party, Pauline Hanson's One Nation.

Charles John Newcombe Callins was born in Hughenden, North Queensland, in 1887. He worked as a printer for many years, retiring from The Brisbane Telegraph in 1947. As a painter, Callins was considered a leading Queensland figure in the 'primitive' school of art. His exhibiting career began in 1953 after Dr Gertrude Langer praised the work of the modern primitives in the exhibition of 'French Painting Today’ at the Queensland Art Gallery. 'Gentle Repose', Callins's first exhibited work, was included in the second annual exhibition of Queensland Artists of Fame and Promise later the same year. Callins continued to submit his paintings to local prize competitions somewhat sporadically over more than two decades. His first solo exhibition was held at the Johnstone Gallery, Brisbane, in 1957 and his work was included in group exhibitions of works by like artists at galleries across Australia in the 1960s and 1970s. John Harold Ashe born on 4 September 1907 in Drummoyne, New South Wales. Composer. Songwriter. Singer. Actor. Accountant. Lived mostly in Townsville, Queensland. Died on 23 July 1978.

London-trained psychiatrist, migrated to Australia in 1922 and lived in Brisbane from 1927. In 1940 Bostock was appointed research professor of medical psychology at the University of Queensland. He wrote The Dawn of Australian Psychiatry in 1951, and retired from his university post in 1962.

Edward Harold Fulcher Swain was born 6 April 1883 in Glebe, New South Wales. He worked as a research consultant for Australian Paper Manufacturers from 1933 to 1934, was Chairman of the Queensland Forestry Board from 1924 to 1932 and Commissioner for Forests, New South Wales, from 1935 to 1948. He was United Nations forestry consultant to Ethiopia from 1951 to 1955. He died on 3 July 1970.

Thomas William Shapcott was born in Ipswich, Queensland, on 21 March 1935. He attended the Ipswich Grammar School with his twin brother. Shapcott left school at 15 to work in his father's accountancy business. In 1954 Shapcott began to write poetry seriously for the first time. His first published poem appeared in the Sydney Bulletin in 1956. His first collection of poems, Time on Fire won the Grace Leven Poetry Prize for 1961. That year he completed an accountancy degree. In 1967 Shapcott graduated Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. He established an accountancy firm in 1972. In 1971 Shapcott was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to visit America, a trip which led to the autobiographical poems in Shabbytown Calendar (1975). In 1973 he was appointed to the Literature Board of the Australia Council and served as its Director from 1983 to 1990. He served as the Executive Director of the National Book Council from 1991 to 1997, when he became the inaugural Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide, retiring from the position in 2005. As well as his many volumes of poetry, Shapcott has written many novels, short stories, libretti, plays and reviews. He has received numerous awards for his contribution to Australian literature, including the Canada-Australia Literary Award in 1978, the Yugoslavia Struga International Poetry Festival Golden Wreath Award, 1989, the FAW Christopher Brennan Award, 1995, the New South Wales Premier’s Special Literary Award in 1996 and the Patrick White Award in 2000. In 1989 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. He has received honorary Doctorates from Macquarie University and the University of Queensland.

Estelle Thomson was a member of the Queensland Naturalists' Club. She published Flowers of Our Bush (1929), a guide to Queensland wildflowers, which described and illustrated coastal species. From 1929 to the 1930s Estelle ran a weekly 'Wildflowers' column in the Brisbane Courier, illustrated by her own line drawings. She produced a series of paintings of poisonous plants for the University of Queensland's Medical School.
