History
Gertrude Scholes, also known as Gertie Scholes, born in 1925, was a member of the Lardil people of Mornington Island. Her father was called Gamon. Her husband was Sandy Scholes. They had three children together called Doreen, Sandra and Cedric. Gertrude contributed to the research conducted by Paul Memmott and the Aboriginal Environments Research Centre in various locations around the Gulf Country region during the 1970s. She died on 18 January 1984.
