History
Working Women's Charter Campaign Brisbane Group (1977-1980). Briefly known as the Independent Working Women's Charter Campaign.
Objectives - To bring a broader, more political scope to the overall campaign for a working women's charter and to concentrate on contact with the rank and file. To take into account non-unionized women in the workforce, unemployed women and those in domestic work.
Publicists - Jane Calvert, Megan Martin, Leslie Wenck (Synge).
Notes: This group had a different emphasis to the Working Women's Charter Committee which implements the Australian Council of Trade Unions Working Women's Charter. According to the Working Women's Charter Campaign the demands in their charter were "much clearer and more positive" and reflected the fact that workers' needs "extend beyond the workplace". This campaign became inoperative and dissolved in favour of the Working Women's Charter Committee. Includes material from other states bodies.
