History

The Women's Information and Support Association (WISA) operated from 1981 to approximately the mid-90s. Initially called Women's Group, WISA changed its name to the Women's Information and Support Association in 1983. WISA operated from the Sunshine Coast and was the catalyst for many of the women’s services of today, such as domestic violence services, family planning and women’s refuges. The objective of WISA was to promote feminism and eliminate sexism by providing support and information to the women of the Sunshine Coast.
