Scope and content

35 letters, 40 postcards, 14 cards, two poems and four colour photographs. Some correspondence is addressed jointly to both Robin and John Harwood. People mentioned include: Vikram Seth, Bob and Blanche Hawke, Geoffrey Dutton, Rodney Hall, Craig Powell, Thomas Shapcott, Judith Wright, Kevin Hart, Robert Gray, Michael Heyward, David Marr, Larry Sitsky, Moya Henderson, Judith Rodriguez, Judith Wright, Peter Goldsworthy, and Vincent Buckley. Some letters refer to: various literary festivals, events, poetry societies and readings; trips for the events; family matters; and Hobart social and political life. Much of the correspondence from 1995 is about Gwen's failing health and impending death.

One postcard from 1988 has a colour photograph pasted on the front, likely of John Harwood and Robin F. Haines. Another postcard from the same year has a colour photograph, pasted on the front, of a flowering tree, and a third postcard, from 1990, has a colour photograph that shows Bill Harwood fishing. One of the letters from 1991 is accompanied by an original invitation card addressed to Gwen for 'The Women of the Year Luncheon' in Hobart 1991 and the official table and seating plan from the event. One postcard from 1991 has a colour photograph pasted on the front of Gwen and Bill Harwood, with the Queen Elizabeth II passenger ship in the background.

One of the two poems, titled 'Enough! Or too much' is dated December 1985 but appears to have been sent as an attachment to a letter or card in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The other poem is titled 'Hobart' and was sent as an attachment to a letter in 1992.
