Biographical history

Academic and translator Noel Macainsh was born in Horsham, Victoria in 1926. After receiving his PhD in Germanic Studies from the University of Melbourne he took a post as Reader-in-English at James Cook University in 1969, a position he retained until his retirement in 1989. He published many works of literary criticism as well as writing poetry and composing translations for various publications.

Ray Sumner was born in Queensland and lives in Los Angeles. She is a retired professor of geography with an interest in the social and environmental impacts of science and technology as well as the built environment and history of tropical Queensland.
