Biographical history
Alistair Macdonald was born in Georgetown, North Queensland on 2 June 1896 to Alexander Rose Macdonald and Nancy Macdonald (nee Armitage). He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 5 October 1914 and served in Belgium and France as part of the 12th Infantry Battalion, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He later became Associate to Alan Mansfield and accompanied him to the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.
