Librarian and political advocate Madeleine McPherson was born in Brisbane 1941. She has held a variety of positions within Queensland branches of the Australian Labor Party at State and local level and served on numerous committees. She has also been a member of a range of organisations including the Queensland Council of Civil Liberties, Australia-China Society, Family Planning Assoc (Qld), Amnesty International, Queensland Women's Coalition, and People for Nuclear Disarmament.
