Biographical history
Dr Donald John Tugby was an anthropologist and staff member of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, University of Queensland in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Dr Tugby conducted research in areas of Indonesia, Malaysia and Netherlands New Guinea. He was particularly interested in the Mandailing people of Sumatra, and published the results of this research in a book "Cultural change and identity: Mandailing immigrants in Western Malaysia" in 1977.
