Folder 1
Scraps of juvenalia and post juvenalia
‘What would you say’ , A small piece of 1968 reminiscence written in 1987
‘It's poster week’, Written in 1976.
‘Poeme en forme de la Gig’, parody of friend and colleague Gig Ryan, Written 1979
”Wayman 1966’ , Poem about a high school friend, Written circa 1969
‘A sonnett on why I am writing this sonnett’, Wearne's high school English teacher Bernadette Taylor dispaired of his essays. Concise they were not. She suggested he write a sonnet as a means of teaching himself the art of precision and brevity. He took this suggestion up as a dare. 1966
‘You can fornicate like crazy’, A high school satire inspired by the senior mistress exploding over the PA system about children eating fish and chips in newspaper on their way home. This piece won Wearne vast applause as he read it everywhere to all ages and sexes in the school ground, 1965
‘On Monday I watch’ A verse satire from 1961. Inspired by Stan Freberg probably. Meant to be a calypso like his 'Television television / I'm a sick of looking at television' performed throughout the school ground and class room
‘An offer we couldn't refuse’., 1976 poem about the Springvale Necropolis. Written whilst doing Dip Ed
‘Yes, you can bake a pie’. Poem for my friend Ethel Tilligers' wedding 1989. Its doubtful that most of the references can be grasped
‘Or Lovelock and the children’. Serious poem from 1968 or 1969 was read to great applause at La Martha.
‘The Wine maker’ , 1968 or 1969. John Scott's parody of me.
‘or Jane’ 1977. Part of an abandoned piece based on the life of the friend the late Greg St John. A high school teacher. (The Months in the Country)
