History

The Tranby Aboriginal Co-operative College, often referred to simply as "Tranby", was founded by Reverend Alf Clint in 1957. It was established as a training centre for the development of cooperative practices for Aboriginal peoples. Tranby has also been involved in activism around the rights of Aboriginal peoples, such as distributing 'Vote yes' leaflets for the 1967 Referendum. It has also produced a range of publications, including the Aborigines Welfare Bulletin (1959-1965) and Mili Mili (1972-1977). In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Tranby moved many of its classes online for the first time.
