The Gallery's permanent collection showcases Australian artists of renown, including Jeffrey Smart, Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and Russell Drysdale as well as Japanese art, prints by John Gould and a portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Officially opened in 1967, initially as "The Queensland Art Gallery, City of Rockhampton Branch".
