The Diploma in Architecture course was established by Charles Ford Whitcombe in 1919 at the Queensland University of Technology's (QUT) predecessor institution, the Central Technical College. The CTC became the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT) in 1965, then QUT in 1989.
