History

The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was a department of the Australian Federal Government established during Federation in 1901 to provide postal and telegraphic services across Australia. It replaced state based postal and telegraphy services. In 1975 it was replaced by Australia Post and Telecom Australia.
