Sixth plate daguerreotype portrait, image size 7 x 6 cm, depicting a mother seated sideways facing a child. Also seated, the child gazes at the camera while holding a pamphlet or chapbook in one hand and a pen or pencil in the other hand. The daguerreotype is framed by a pebble-textured mat and is housed in an original embossed leather carry case, container size 10 x 8 cm, with a clasp and hook closure and red plush pad inside the front cover. Unidentified photographer and subjects. Undated.
