History
Irmtraud Eleonore Petersson was born on 6 April 1941 in Germany and came to Australia in 1984. She received a Master of Arts (1966, Universität München) and a PhD (1988, the University of Queensland) specialising in Australian literature. She published several articles on Australian fiction and was a lecturer in the School of Communication and Arts at the University of Queensland. In 2021 she helped establish the Laurie Hergenhan Scholarship in Australian Literary Studies. She died on 9 September 2022.
