History

Roy Parkinson was a Queensland artist born in Brisbane. He primarily painted in watercolours. Parkinson studied at Brisbane Central Technical College under F J Martyn Roberts. He was also a private student of William Bustard and Hubert Jarvis. He was a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society. He exhibited in Brisbane and Sydney, at the Coronation Exhibition London in 1937 and in the United States. His Praise Life and Practise Art was published posthumously in 1946. His work is represented in the Art Gallery of South Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Queensland Art Gallery and Castlemaine Gallery.
