History

The Open Brethren established the Old Doomadgee Mission in 1933 at Bayley Point on Ganggalidda land in Far North Queensland's Gulf Country. In 1936 the mission was damaged in a cyclone, leading to a relocation of the dormitories to a new site on the Nicholson River, known as Doomadgee Mission.
