Paul Norton was an active member of the Communist Party of Australia and the New Left Party. Norton was particularly active in the Communist Party of Australia from 1986 to 1991, the year in which party was dissolved. Norton served as a member of the Communist Party of Australia’s national committee from 1987-1988 and as a member of the Queensland state committee in 1990. From 1989 to 1991 Norton was most active in the New Left Party, a party created in the wake of the Communist Party of Australia. Norton served on the Brisbane region committee of the New Left Party from 1989-1990. The New Left Party dissolved in 1992.
