History

Craig Munro was born in Brisbane in 1950. He was a publishing editor for over twenty-five years, but began work as a journalist. Munro was the publishing manager for the University of Queensland Press from 1983 to 2005, and was their first fiction editor. He has published in a wide range of books, newspapers and journals. Munro's biography of P.R. Stephensen won the Fellowship of Australian Writers, A.W. Herb Thomas Literary Award and the Walter McCrae Russell Award for literary scholarship. He has also received the Barbara Ramsden Award for Editing in 1985, and the Churchill Fellowship in 1991 to study publishing in Canada and the United States. Munro was also the founding chair of the Queensland Writers’ Centre.
