History

Mervyn Moriarty was born in northern New South Wales in 1937. He is an art teacher and an abstract and figurative painter working in oil, acrylic and pencil. In 1971 he founded the Eastaus Art School, which was later known in 1974 as the Australian Flying Art School (Eastaus), and from 1978 as the Australian Flying Arts School at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. It is now part of the Flying Arts Alliance Inc. Moriarty's work is held at galleries around Australia and he has been interviewed on ABC's Conversations as well as presenting at The Wheeler Centre.
