Michel Sourgnes was a curator in France (to 1979), director, Mildura Arts Centre (1980 - 84) and foundation curator, contemporary Australian Art, including Aboriginal Art at the Queensland Art Gallery. He established his Gallery in 1994, specialising in Australian contemporary art. Joe Airo-Farulla established Gallery 482 in November 1985.
