History

Jay McKee, the pseudonym of Rodney McElhinney, born on 18 July 1938, was an influence in local dramatic productions, both in Brisbane and regional Queensland from the 1960s. As Rodney McElhinney, he graduated from the University of Queensland (B.Sc. 1960; Dip.Ed. 1961), later teaching at Mitchelton State High School from 1972 to 1973 and the Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) from 1976 until the 1990s. In addition to his biography of Brisbane actress Babette Stephens, Never upstaged : Babette Stephens, her life and times (2004), Jay McKee published travel articles, short stories, satirical sketches and songs for stage and television.
