History
Dentist Dr Elaine Marlay was born Elaine Wilson in 1915 at Coorparoo, Brisbane. She gained her Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1937 and completed her PhD in 1969 after more than two decades practising as a dentist. Dr Marlay was appointed Temporary Lecturer at the UQ Department of Dentistry in January 1961 and appointed Lecturer in Oral Biology in January 1965. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Oral Biology in 1971. She died in May 1977 and her book A history of dental education in Queensland 1863-1964 was published posthumously by the University of Queensland Department of Dentistry in 1979.
