History
Lawn Hill Station, once one of the largest cattle properties in Queensland, is located in the Gulf Country region. It has been in operation since 1875 when Frank Hann took up ownership of the station. During his tenure from 1875 to 1896, Hann employed Jack Watson as a the station's manager. In 1883, diarist Emily Creaghe visited the station and documented the violence perpetrated against the local Aboriginal peoples under Hann and Watson's management. In 2010, the Waanyi people received native title rights over the Lawn Hill region as a result of a successful native title claim filed in 1994.
