History
Helmut Max (Ted) Kolsen, born on 30 April 1926 in Berlin, was Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland. Sent to England from Nazi Germany as a boy, he emigrated to Australia in 1948. He received his undergraduate education from the University of Sydney and completed a PhD at the London School of Economics. He lectured at the University of Sydney as well as the University of New South Wales before landing a position at the University of Queensland in 1968, where he remained until retirement in 1989. He was head of the Department of Economics from 1960 to 1973. He was married to Beryl Scott.
