History
The International Women's Day Committee in Brisbane was a representative body that organised activities to celebrate International Women's Day annually on 8 March. It consisted of delegates from the Union of Australia Women (UAW), from various trade union women's committees, and private individuals. In 1951, the UAW held its first International Women's Day Celebrations in Queensland as part of a quarterly meeting. Eva Bacon, who was involved with the UAW from 1950, founded the IWD Committee in Brisbane in 1954 and was secretary until 1974. Unable to determine when the Committee disbanded.
