Typescript and handwritten poems, with ms emendations, for the book Hart : poems, 1974. Accompanied by some "exercise" poems plus some poems included in Selected poems 1939-1975.

Two photograph albums containing 167 photographs. Includes photographs of Luxor, Cairo, Australian military hospitals in Egypt, Anzac beach, Australian military hospitals and personnel on Lemnos Island off Gallipoli, and Queenslanders who served in No. 3, Australian General Hospital, Australian Army Medical Corps. James-Wallace and nurses of the 3AGH were photographed by Private Albert William Savage, from whom it is said James-Wallace purchased 116 photographs. Handwritten captions with each photograph. Second album labelled: 'Lemnos Photos.'

Two volume book, printed by B. & A. Simpson and Young Bani, privately produced at Mabuiag, Torres Strait, 1972, for sale to schoolchildren and interested adults. Written in Mabuiag dialect. Parts 1 and 2. Part 1 accompanied by information about Buddy Simpson from the donor ( 2 pages on 1 leaf, handwritten). Titles: Mura ngulaig : Ngath nin ngurpaik and Mura ngulaig II : Na ngath lak nin ngurpaik.

Holograph and typescript. Burkitt Family papers, photographs, sketches, newspaper clippings. Also Slater's Queensland Almanac for 1882 with manuscript diary notes. Photographs including Cooktown, the Queensland Government steam yacht Lucinda, and ships Griffin and Sea Breeze.

Diary is handwritten in Ottoman Turkish script. Includes lists of German words with Turkish equivalents. Accompanied by information about the provenance and contents of the diary (9 leaves).

2 poems : 'To England : 1919' (2 leaves), 'Epilogue to war poems' (3 leaves); one article, "Addendum to tape-recording made by me for the Fryer Memorial Library at Queensland University on 26.11.73' (1 leaf). Article concerns P.R. Stephensen and accusations of treason against him and leaders of the Australia First Movement.

This file has three items:

1. Carbon copy typescript, 4 leaves, of a letter to the editor [of The Daily Mail] by Archibald Meston where he comments on Randolph Bedford being on the Queensland Legislative Council, dated 16 May 1917.
2. Typescript of two leaves, of an extract from Archibald Meston's book 'Geographic history of Queensland - page 175', titled 'Charles Fraser'. The book was published in 1895. This extract described the activities of Charles Fraser, a botanist who was sent to Brisbane in 1828. [This material contains culturally sensitive depictions of Indigenous people.]
3. Poem by Archibald Meston When Murphy comes : Advance of Kuropatkin Murphy to the relief of Port Arthur Morgan, 2 leaves handwritten, signed and 2 leaves typescript, both have footer Daily Mail, 1904 June 14.

Four scrapbooks containing Australian and English literary and historical material of the late 19th century. Includes original photographs; a telegram from Wm Tasker to John McGregor, solicitor, announcing the capture of the Kenniff Brothers (Patrick Kenniff and James Kenniff), dated 1902 (located in volume three); newspaper cuttings from, mostly, unidentified newspapers with poetry and some articles. The articles include: 'Our Men of Mark', Daily Observer, 188-? (v.1) ; and 'Where the pelican builds' by Mary Hannay Foott (signed holograph with comments about poem) (located in volume three). Most of the material in the scrapbooks is from before Katharine was born and is most likely created by one or both of her parents, John George McGregor, solicitor, and Catherine Elizabeth, née Ferguson. The last scrapbook contains: newspaper cuttings of results from University of Queensland students which include Katharine's, from the early 1920s as well as articles written by Jon Michie; a letter from Isabel Michie (dated 31 Jul 1946) thanking Katharine for her letter after the death of her husband John Michie; a carbon copy typescript letter by John McGregor (dated 7 Jan 1920) to his agent in Edinburgh which mentions among other things that he is sending a copy of book of poems by Henry Lawson (whom John McGregor met in a bookseller's shop in Sydney); a note to John McGregor from Littleton Groom (dated 10 Jan 1924); and a letter to Miss McGregor (dated 26 Mar 1971) from Eric Davis (the youngest son of Arthur Davis).

Research material and notes for a Ph.D. thesis, An analysis of Brisbane society in the 1890's by Ronald Lynton Lawson. The thesis was submitted to the History Department of the University of Queensland in 1970. The thesis analyses the society of Brisbane in 1891 and 1901. In 1967 Lawson used a structured interview technique, with a 112 questions on many aspects of life, surveying people who were children or adolescents in the city of Brisbane in 1891 and 1901. Over a period of three months Lawson interview 75 people aged 79 years and over. Questions included: when did parents arrive in Australia; the sort of dwellings they lived in; if they had servants; family roles; employment; newspapers read; diet; where was the grocery shopping done; vehicles; education; religion. This file includes the questionnaires, notes and photographs.

Reports 1864 from John Jardine, Police Magistrate at Somerset, Queensland to the Colonial Secretary, Brisbane. Contents: 6 Sep on formation of the new settlement, enclosing copies of letters; 31 December with return of issues and sale of rations. People and organisations in report and correspondence includes : J.J. Hanan, Lt. Pascoe, D.M. Simmex and the Queensland Colonial Secretary's Office.
